- The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences intends to award a sole source purchase order to Transponics, Mt. Wolf, PA, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This procurement is for the genetic study of normal and abnormal human brain development dealing with the following project: study of the most common structural brain anomaly in humans, holoprosencephaly (HPE). Transponics to provide the modified genes in the form of sequence verified "constructs" (approx. 6) which consist of pieces of DNA that can be propagated in bacteria, isolated in pure form, and used to perform biological assays to determine the effect of specific genetic alterations. They will be responsible for designing a strategy to introduce a given mutation (through genetic engineering) and verifying that the intended change (and no other changes) are accurately introduced into the gene of interest for each "construct". Transponics has the expertise to provide the modified genes in the form of sequence verified "constructs" essential to our lab in performing biological assays to determine the effect of specific genetic alterations. All responsible sources may respond by submitting a written narrative statement of capability within 15 days of closing date of notice to Dee Lunney at the above address for consideration by the agency. Response must include detailed technical information and other technical literature demonstrating the ability to meet these requirements. Responses shall also include itemized pricing that is sufficient to make a determination that competition is feasible. If no affirmative responses are received within 15 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with the Transponics. The NAICS Code/Size is 541690/$6.0M. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
