Description

The U.S. Geological Survey, Aquatic Ecology Lab, Leetown Science Center, 11700 Leetown Road, Kearneysville, West Virginia 25430 anticipates awarding a non competitive purchase order to Applied Biosystems, 850 Lincoln Center Drive, Foster City, California 94404 for a ABI Prism 3100 Genetic Analyzer to be delivered by 10/31/2002 which requires a high throughput (with at least 16 capillaries) automated gel loading, automated sample loading, automated data analysis, and multi-color fluorescent detection system for analysis of DNA fragments and nucleotide sequence. While automated DNA sequencers exist that offer one, eight, or 96 capillaries, the Applied Biosystems 3100 is the only system that provides the required attributes. Based on information available at this time, the Government considers this equipment to be a sole source. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSED ONLY; no competitive RFQ will be available. The anticipated award date is 09/30/2002, under the Simplified Acquisition Threshold of $100,000.00. The NAICS code for the acquisition is 334516. A determination not to continue with this acquisition based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive acquisition.
