Description
Classification Code: F - Natural Resources Management NAICS code: 115310 - Support activities for Forestry The purpose of this project is to reduce vegetation by widening and performing maintenance on an existing shaded fuel break on approximately forty (40) acres of BLM administered land within the King Range National Conservation Area. The shaded fuel break will be approximately 125 feet wide for a total length of 13,833 lineal feet (2.62 miles) on the ridge adjacent to King Peak Road. The project begins at the intersection of West Rancho Road and King Peak Road and continues north along the ridge adjacent to King Peak Road to Horse Mountain Creek Trailhead. The fuel break will be widened and maintained by selectively cutting existing vegetation with chainsaws and/or other hand tools. All brush material will be cut. Leave trees will be spaced approximately 15 feet apart and no trees greater than 10" will be cut. All trees will be limbed proportionally to a maximum height of seven (7) feet. All severed vegetative material will be chipped and scattered on or adjacent to the fuel break. The results of this treatment would be large well spaced trees providing a shaded canopy with the absence of understory vegetation. The contractor shall select a maximum of 150 stems of conifer (Douglas-fir and Redwood) and Hardwoods (Tanoak and Madrone) per acre conforming to minimum approximate 15 x 15 foot spacing and cut all competing trees and brush. Some areas may have insufficient conifer to make the stem count. Interested parties shall complete fthe Request for Quotation BAQ020023 at the website:http://ideasec.nbc.gov/ or contact Traci D. Thaler at (916)978-4529, Fax (916)978-4444 to obtain a copy of the Request for Quotation. This announcement is being run concurrently with the Solicitation being posted. All quotations must be received no later than September 25, 2002, 12:00 a.m. (PST).
