Description
The U.S. Department of Agriculture intends to do a sole-source procurement with Google, Inc., 2400 Bayshore Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94073. The requirement is to procure a server is a fully integrated hardware and software product that is literally plug and play. Google is the ONLY company that provides a fully integrated search engine server and NO other company provides an integrated search engine server product. Ordering a different Search Engine Server would require re-indexing ARS' site, which would cost more than the Server itself. Google's unique features are as follows: Automatic Spellcheck-Google's highly advanced self-learning spellcheck algorithm automatically detects misspellings and suggests corrections specific to your company's own words and phrases; Cached Pages-Stores cached copies of every page in the index, so search results can be viewed when the original sites are down; View as HTML-Non-HTML search results are automatically reformatted to provide an HTML option that can be viewed by any browser, enabling users to access information even when the native application is not available; Sort By Date-enables users to search for time-sensitive information, dates can be identified in any international format from either the last-modified date, page title, page body or meta tags; Hit Highlighting-when viewing cached pages, query terms are highlighted in color, allowing users to quickly find which part of the page is relevant to their query; Content Web Servers-Google Search Appliance maps all the web documents on your network accessible via hypertext transfer protocol(HTTP) in a process known as crawling, then creates an index of those documents; Secure Content-crawls password protected areas and HTTPS content; Proxy Servers-crawls content located behind proxy servers; Results Grouping-multiple results from the same subdirectory are grouped together, improving navigation and clarity of search results; Lotus Domino-automatically collapses Lotus Domino URL space for fast, efficient crawling of Domino servers; Meta Tags-supports standard meta tag fields, enabling search narrowing and filtering based on meta tag values, also can return meta tag data for display in search results; File Types- search over 200+ file types, including HTML, Microsoft Office, PDF, Postscript, WordPerfect, Lotus, and many others; Languages- able to restrict searches to any one of 28 languages; Administration and Customization Web-based Admin Console-Admin Console software supports multiple logins and administrative roles for crawling, serving, and monitoring with an intuitive, easy-to-use interface; Look and Feel Search results customizable using XSLT stylesheets; Reporting Web based reports show daily and hourly result sets, top queries, special feature usage, and more. Easily export the reports for use in other reporting tools; URL Tracking Analyzes all crawled content and hosts, making it easy for administrators to identify problem servers, errors, and sources of content; Remote Diagnostics comes equipped with a modem connection for remote maintenance by Google support. Use of its PageRank system is proprietary to Google which analyzes network link structures determine the most important, highest quality pages across all ARS' sites. Then for each query, Google applies hypertext analysis using more than 100 variables to determine relevance. Any sources that wish to challenge this intent may submit your capabilites or your proposed server to the point of contact issuing this notice.
