Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology, (NIST), Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory has a requirement for the disassembly and crating of a Hexapod machine, a parallel-actuated machine tool. This machine is to be transferred from NIST, Gaithersburg, MD to NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. NIST intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Ingersoll Milling Machine Company, 707 Fulton Avenue, Rockford, IL 61103 to supervise and oversee the disassembly and crating and back up the machine logic prior to any disassembly work. This acquisition is to be accomplished under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Ingersoll Milling Machine Company as the original equipment manufacturer is uniquely qualified to perform these services. This notice of intent is not a request for proposal. However, interested parties may identify their capability to satisfy the Government?s requirements no later than the indicated response date. A determination not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. A solicitation document is not available.
