Description

U. S. Department of Commerce/(DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, (NOAA), National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Services, (NESDIS), National Ice Center, intends to negotiate on a sole basis with the University of Delaware, Center for Climatic Research, Dept of Georgraphy, Newark, Delaware to transform the NIC weekly ice charts from 1995 to 2000 currently in a combination of paper charts and native digital formats into a form accessible to the broader climate research community. The primary goal will be to digitize the weekly NIC ice charts for the entire Southern Ocean from January through September 1997, add ice features (egg code) transcribed by the NIC analyst to the digital weekly charts from 1995 through 1997, and merge the hemispheric data into a single Southern Ocean coverage from 1995 through 2000. This is a notice of intent and cannot be considered a solicitation, therefore no solicitation package exist. Award will be made using simplified acquisition procedures. Reference NE-EC-112.
