Description
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences intends to award a sole source purchase order to Amersham Biosciences, Piscataway, NJ 08855, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This is to be issued under FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. This procurement is for the following: 1) #13330001 AKTA FPLC w/Unicorn 4.0 Operating Software and Frac 900 Collector (1 each); 2) #18608301 Pump P-950 (1 each); 3) #18113484 PH Electrode (1 each); 4) 18115424 User Kit (1 each); #19724202 SR Tube Holder & Guide 12mm (1 each); and 5) 18112468 Tube Holder 30mm (1 each). The system must have the following capabilities: 1) be able to perform separations based on a variety of sample characteristics, such as molecular weight, hydrophobicity, while retaining biological activity, 2) able to automate the running of large, open columns as well as a variety of gel filtration media with a flow rate range of .05-20mls/min at pressures ranging from 0-700 psi, 3) must be a two-pump gradient system, 4) the entire wetting flow path must be inert to halides, 5) include a fraction collector which is fully integrated in the system and fully controllable via the system control software, 6) controller must allow programs to be time-based, volume-based or column-volume based, and 7) control of up to nine motorized valves, chart recorder, fraction collector, dynamic gradient mixer, air sensors, and three pumps, must all be possible from the system controller. All responsible sources may respond by submitting a written narrative statement of capability within 10 days of date of notice to Dee Lunney at the above address for consideration by the agency. Response must include detailed technical information and other technical literature demonstrating the ability to meet these requirements. Responses shall also include itemized pricing that is sufficient to make a determination that competition is feasible. If no affirmative responses are received within 10 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Amersham Biosciences. The NAICS Code/Size is 334516/500EM. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures. There is no solicitation package available.
