- Description
- Request for proposals for the Glengarry Mine Closure. Closure of the Glengarry Mine and Como Raise. Work on the Como Raise consists of 300 meters of grout curtain at the top of the raise, 130 meters cemented backfill of the raise, and construction of a 3 meter thick concrete raise plug. Work on the Glengarry Mine consists of installation a grout curtain at 360 meters, construction of 3 concrete plugs, and cement backfill of 420 meters of the drift. The grout curtain will require installation of 420 meters of construction utilities, removal of timbers and ferricrete, construction of two drill stations involving removal of 450 m3 of rock, and 800 meters of drilling and grouting. Concrete adit plugs will be built at 420 meters, 320 meters, and the portal. Approximately 1,200 m3 cement backfill will be placed from the portal to the 420 meter plug. Water management and sediment controls will be required for the duration of the project over two seasons. The Como Basin/Glengarry EE/CA can be viewed at www.fs.fed.us/r1/gallatin, New World Project. Meet at the Forest Service New World Project office at 10:00 a.m. September 26, 2002. The office is located in a tan and brown office trailer at the west edge of Cooke City. When proceeding west from Cooke City on US 212, take the second road to the right past the police car. The office is located about 150 ft from the highway. This will be a pre-advertisement showing of the project area. Individuals planning to enter the mine must come equiped with all MSHA required safety equipment.
