- Description
- The purpose of this Synopsis is to request information for pagers=20 and cell phones. Attached are two Draft Statements of Work for pager and cell phone needs. This document is for information and planning purposes and to allow industry the opportunity to verify reasonableness and feasibility of the requirement, as well as promote competition.=20 Prospective offerors are invited to submit comments or questions to: Gail Rollins, no later than September 18, 2002. In responding, reference the Number BJ2-02-RFI-01. Comments may be forwarded to Gail Rollins via electronic transmission or by facsimile transmission. INFORMATION REQUESTED - PROVIDE RESPONSES TO THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS: a. Can the Contractor provide both wireless telephone service and pager service? Is it more efficient to combine the two requirements or split into separate contracts considering emerging technologies? b. Can the Contractor provide dual band phones (digital and analog in one unit)including an Integrated phone email text message device? What is the National and International coverage area? c. Regarding pagers: How many of the NASA Centers are currently covered by existing system and what are the location of towers? d. What is the feasibility of combining the cell phone and pager into one unit? When using the cell phone, can this unit receive text messages, email, PDA, etc.? What types of hardware are currently available that will meet both requirements? How cost effective is this hardware? Does this hardware use SIM-Card? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the SIM-Card? Can this hardware interface with P.C./Laptop/video equipment/servers? What is the SIM-Card Adapter and how does it work? e. What types of rate plans are available for each requirement? If the requirements were combined, would the rate plan be more beneficial and cost effective? f. Can the Contractor provide support for a wireless hand-held device which includes email and an integrated phone? g. Provide comments on both Statements of Work. Your response should be no more than 10 pages (8.5" x 11") in length. If you have additional documentation that provides specifications, etc., please provide this information but limit it to 25 pages. Your response can be submitted in either hard copy or electronically. If submitted electronically, please ensure that the format is compatible with MS Office 2000 or Adobe Acrobat Reader. If other software applications are used, please contact the Contract Specialist to ensure compatibility. This RFI is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for the information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the review.
