- Description
- The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) intends to modify, on a sole source basis, Contract HQ0006-01-C-0001 with The Boeing Company, to include concept development for a follow-on exo-atmospheric kill vehicle (EKV), the Complementary Exo-atmospheric Kill Vehicle (CEKV). The CEKV is a multi-phased acquisition supporting both the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) and Sea-Based Midcourse Defense (SMD) programs. The CEKV will use the latest technology to provide improved Counter-Counter measure performance that: exploits all available information; incorporates new Active and Passive sensors technologies; introduces new fusion and discrimination algorithms; and balances load between on-board and off-board sensors and processors. The effort necessary to satisfy the CEKV concept development is highly specialized and tightly interwoven with the on-going GMD system development efforts being provided by Boeing. No other source can meet this requirement to provide the planned CEKV concept development effort without the intimate knowledge of, and subsequent ability to integrate the CEKV into the GMD system under this contract.
