- Description
- The purpose of this contract is to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support for the operational components of the NTP Interagency Center for the Evaluation of Alternative Toxicological Methods (NICEATM). The NICEATM Office manages and provides necessary scientific, technical, and administrative support for the Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Validation of Alternative Methods (ICCVAM), ICCVAM Working Groups, Peer Review and Expert Panels, and the Advisory Committee. NICEATM provides support necessary to ensure compliance with duties and provisions of the ICCVAM Authorization Act of 2000. The overall goal is to promote the development, validation, acceptance, and use of alternative and other new testing methods and strategies that are more predictive of human health and ecological effects than currently available methods and strategies. The Center Office shall: provide scientific, technical, and administrative support for the ICCVAM and its Working Groups (IWGs); prescreen methods submitted for consideration by ICCVAM; work collaboratively with ICCVAM to coordinate the scientific peer review and interagency consideration of new test methods of multi-agency interest; convene peer review panels, expert panels, and workshops to evaluate the validation status of new methods and to identify research and validation studies needed to fill critical knowledge gaps; and disseminate information on the current status of alternative test method development, validation, acceptance and use. Options are included for additional peer review meetings and workshops, preparation of background review documents on specific test methods, and coordination of validation studies. This contract will cover a three year period with one award and may provide for yearly (base) options. The government estimates that the project will require approximately 5.5 professional person-years and 1.0 technical person years per contract year. All requests must reference RFP No. 02-08 and must be directed to the office listed above. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the Agency.
