Description
NA Notice of intent to award a sole source contract. The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) intends to award a sole source firm-fixed-price GSA delivery order under the auspices of FAR Part 12, to American Science and Engineering, Inc. (AS&E), Billerica, Massachusetts for a quantity of one (1) MICRO-DOSE X-Ray Inspection System, Model 101ZZ to include installation and operator training, and two year extended warranty. The Government's minimum requirements for the mail and parcel screening X-ray inspectio n system are as follows: Open Tunnel; Transmission X-Ray with double Backscatter and Compton scattering technology; edge enhancement; extra penetration (22mm of steel equivalent); 84 cm (33 inch) wide conveyor; lift kit; 2X-4X-8X digital zoom; reverse vid eo; ability to detect chem-bio weapons and plastic weapons; and a fixed site system. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. Interested parties have seven (7) days from the date of publication of this Synopsis, to submit in writing, to the ident ified point of contact, clear and convincing evidence of their qualifications and/or capabilities. Such qualifications and/or capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis . Responses received after seven (7) days, or without the required information, will be considered non-responsive to this synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not conduct this effort as a full-and-open competitive pro curement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. All inquiries must be submitted in writing to the address or facsimile number stated herein and to the attention of Ms. Patricia Maxson, Contract Specialist. Responses to this notice must be received by close of business, 20 September 2002. Responses must include your business name, point of contact, address, and telephone number with area code. Telephone requests or inquiries will not be accepted. Request s may be faxed to (703) 767-4691. If no responses are received, an award will be made to American Science and Engineering, Incorporated.
