- Description
- The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC is seeking interested sources for a proposed contractual effort to manufacture approximately 9,024 Mk399 Mod 1 Artillery fuze, Point Detonating (PD)/Delay Fuze. The Mk399 Mod 1 PD/Delay Fuze is a hard penetrator to be used by artillery weapons against urban areas and other hardened targets (i.e. bunkers). It can be set to function PD or Delay. In the delay mode, the fuze is designed to penetrate urban structures, then function the projectile inside the structure. In the PD mode, the fuze functions as a standard PD fuze. The Mk399 Mod 1 fuze is compatible with 105mm and 155mm projectiles. It can be fired in both high and low artillery zones. It is anticipated that a Frist Article Test (FAT) may be conducted in Yuma, AZ March 2003 and following the FAT the Lot Acceptance Test (LAT) may be conducted in May 2003. Sample units may be deliverd to Yuma Proving Ground. The final delivery could be in June 2003. Respondents must have the expertise and equipment with regard to Mk399 Mod 1 PD/Delay Fuze. Respondents must have all of the requisite production facilities and acceptance testing equipment required to produce the Mk399 fuze. Firms with experience in the areas cited above should provide a summary of their company's capabilites including a description of facilities, personnel and past experience by October 1, 2002.
