Description
NA The work of this project consists of maintenance dredging of approximately six and one half million cubic yards of maintenance material from the Providence River navigation channel and Harbor to restore the full project dimensions of 40 feet deep and 600-f eet wide. The work requires the construction of in-channel Confined Aquatic Disposal (CAD) cells for the disposal of unsuitable materials Silt material, classified as suitable for open water disposal, will be disposed at an open water Disposal Site, in Rhode Island Sound about 36 miles from the channel. Overlying unsuitable maintenance material from the up-river dredge sites and disposal cells will be disposed in the cells and the cells will be capped using suitable material from other areas to be dredge d. The dredging will be sequenced to minimize impacts to fishery resources. Work shall be completed within 570 calendar days after receipt of a Notice to Proceed. The estimated cost of this work is greater than $10,000,000.00. The solicitation shall be made available via the Internet on or about 10/3/02. No paper copies of the solicitation or any amendments subsequently issued will be available. Prospective bidders, subcontractors, and plan rooms are required to self-register their firm or office on t he Internet to receive the solicitation. Registration instructions are available on the Internet at http://www.nae.usace.army.mil as well as the media by which the solicitation will be made available. Neither telephonic, mailed nor fax requests will be a ccepted. Those registering are responsible for the accuracy of the information on the mailing list. All responsible sources may submit a bid which will be considered by the New England District.
