- Description
- THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE. The Naval Air Warfare Center Lakehurst is seeking potential sources, industry comments, and product information for the acquisition of a Bench-shop install Altimeter Test Set to be used in support of the Radar Altimeter Set - AN/APN-171 and the Electronic Altimeter - AN/APN194. Both of these systems are comprised of a radar receiver/transmitter and a height indicator. The purpose for the test-set is to provide the required functions to test or calibrate both altimeters. The test-set can test each individual altimeter and be capable of fault isolation to the component level. NAVAIR is pursuing the possibility of procuring a common non-developmental item (NDI) that meets military requirements. The test-set shall be capable of testing: Power Requirements AC Input 115 +/- 10 V, 400Hz +/- 20Hz, single phase 1.5 amps DC Input +28 +/- 2 V, 2.0 Amp max. Outputs signals (for AN/APN-194) Transmit frequency: 4290-4310 MHz Pulse Width: 19-29 nsec below 225 ft AGL Pulse Width: 60-120 nsec above 225 ft AGL PRF: 7-10 kHz Transmit Peak Power: 50W min, 200W nom Receiver Bandwidth: 120 MHz Altitude Range: 0-5,000 feet Time Zero Pulse (T-zero): Amplitude....7 +/- 1.0V Width....70 +/- 20 ns Rise time..8.5 +/- 0.7 kHz PRF...50 ns before Tx pulse Delay....to 500 ns after Tx pulse minimum ranfe TX Pulse: Amplitude...11 +/- 2.0 v Width.....120 +/- 30 ns Rise time...30 ns maximum (for AN/APN171) Time Zero Pulse (Tzero), variable 0 to +5V, 0 to 550 ns delay, 15 ns rise time. Range simulation pulse, +5 min. 100 ns rise time, 450ns width Range Rate (digitally controlled): Rate of change pulse, fixed rate 100, 500, and 2000 ft./sec, variable rates, 0 to 100 and 0 to 1000 ft./sec Video Pulse, variable 0 to +/- 5v Oscilloscope sync pulses, video -5v amplitude 10 nanoseconds rise time T-zero, -5 V amplitude, 10 nanoseconds rise time. Manual slew stimulus, -2 to -14 +/- 1Vdc. Preset altitude, +6.00 +/- 0.03 V Indicator altitude signal, 0 to -40.0 +/- 0.01 V Search delay stimulus, open, ground or +15 Vdc Accuracy of output signals, range +/- 1foot +2% of range (maximum error of +/- 6 feet), fixed rate +100 ft./sec, variable rate, +/- 2 ft./sec The Test-set shall and be capable of testing aircraft Electronic Altimeter systems. The test set shall be capable of operating from 60 or 400 Hz 115 VAC, power sources. It must be rugged for operating on land-based facilities during testing & troubleshooting of Naval and Marine Corp aircraft Altimeters. Information is requested on the test-sets' capabilities to provide testing, troubleshooting and calibrating Radar Altimeter transceivers. Information is requested on what, if any, cost effective modifications (or suggestions) are necessary to NDI units to meet military environmental requirements. For potential flightline application of this item, information is also requested on NDI items ability, or modifications necessary, to meet requirements of MIL-STD-810 (tailored to our requirements) for functional shock, humidity, vibration, transit drop, water resistance, salt fog, solar radiation(minimum), explosive atmosphere(minimum), and expected operating temperature ranges are -28C to +55C and non-operating -40C to +70C. Mechanical Random vibration IAW MIL-STD-785, Task 301 & Thermal cycling IAW MIL-STD-785, Task 301 (this spec. has been cancelled but will be used as a guide and tailored to our requirements). In addition, the unit must meet EMI requirements of MIL-STD 461D (tailored to our requirements), and shall perform within specification in its intended operational configurations when subjected to the electromagnetic environments of MIL-HDBK-235-1A (this spec. has been cancelled but will be use as a guide and tailored to our requirements). It is requested that information be submitted NO LATER THAN 21 October 2002 to Ms.Elaine Lovering, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Code 25222B562-1, Highway 547, Lakehurst, NJ 08733, or by electronic mail at: loveringem@navair.navy.mil. Ms.Lovering may be reached at (732) 323-5221. The government WILL NOT PAY for any information received in response to this request for information nor will the government compensate the respondent for any cost incurred in developing the information for the government. Any request for copies of solicitations will not be addressed since this is a request for information, not a request for proposal.
