SGT, Inc has unique and essential expertise in the calibration and spectral analysis of data from the Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer (FUSE)in addition to interpretation of spectra of hot stars. The contractor shall: Evaluate the performance and characteristics of the FUSE instrument including algorithms for calibrating FUSE spectra for potential use in the FUSE data processing software; Support weekly meetings of the FUSE science data processing team that are held at the FUSE Science Center at the Dept. of Physics and Astronomy of Johns Hopkins University, MD; Analyze and interpret FUSE spectra of hot stars in support of the FUSE hot star working group based at NASA Godddard's Space Flight Center and attend periodic working group meetings; Travel to present results of FUSE-related research at the general assembly of the International Astronomical Union in Sydney, Australia from July 13-26, 2003; and write reports and papers on these results of FUSE-related studies, including scientific papers for professional journals. The contract deliverables are: 1. Reports and papers describing the results of the FUSE instrument and data calibration studies performed. 2. Pubished scientific articles based on the analysis of FUSE data expected level of effort: 0.3FTE; Expected period of performance: September 9, 2002 through September 8, 2003. This work is in collaboration with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and the FUSE project at Johns Hopkins University.
