Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a mission to develop and promote measurements, standards, and technology to enhance productivity, facilitate trade, and improve the quality of life. NIST conducts several programs in support of U.S. manufacturing, including the Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory (MEL), the Advanced Technology Program (ATP), and the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP). The RFQ will focus on improving the strategies by which NIST evaluates funding opportunities in support of U.S. manufacturing industries. The NIST programs that serve U.S. manufacturing must be aware of the measurement, standards, and technology needs of manufacturers and are always interested in learning about opportunities to support advanced manufacturing. This effort should bring together many and varied resources from the U.S. manufacturing sector. The results should be a report that authoritatively documents and identifies emerging technologies, market trends, and industries that represent viable opportunities for NIST to better support and communicate about advanced manufacturing. The competitive solicitation, solicitation amendments, and all questions and answers related to this procurement will be made available via the Internet at http://www.fedbizops.gov/. The solicitation, SB1341-02-Q-0686, is anticipated for release to the vendor community on or about September 2, 2002 and will only be available via the Internet at the above web site. Potential offerors are responsible for accessing the web site. Interested parties must respond to the solicitation in order to be considered for award of any resultant contract. There is no written solicitation document available, telephone requests will not be honored, and no bidders list will be maintained. Potential offerors are requested to direct all questions via email to paul.cataldo@nist.gov. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (15-AUG-2002). IT ACTUALLY FIRST APPEARED ON THE FEDBIZOPPS SYSTEM ON 17-SEP-2002.
