Description
DESCRIPTION/SPECIFICATIONS 1.0 SCOPE: The contract shall consist of the following: 1.1 CARPET: Remove existing carpet and base molding in designated areas and install contractor provided carpet and cove base as directed in accordance with manufacturer?s instructions. 1.2 INSTALLATION: Carpet and cove base to be installed shall be provided by the contractor along with labor, materials, supplies and/or equipment required to complete installation. The Contractor shall make uniform, unnoticeable, permanent seams by treating all joining edges. 2.0 SCHEDULING OF WORK: Work shall be scheduled so as to not interfere with the operation of the various Department within the Naval Hospital. The contractor shall notify the Contract Monitor no less than one day in advance of any date he intends to work after normal working hours (0745 through 1615) and shall obtain approval from the Contract Monitor LT Wallace at (843) 743-7647 or the Contracting Officer, Sylvia Boatwright at (843) 743-7270. A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for all Hazardous Material should be submitted to and approved by Jim Carroll at (843) 743-7221 prior to start of work. 3.0 TIME FOR COMPLETION: All work shall be completed within 60 days of award of contract. 4.0 CARPET REQUIREMENTS: Carpet shall be of tufted, woven fusion bonded or knitted construction, first quality, free of visual blemishes, streaks, poorly dyed areas and other physical and manufacturing defects. Contractor shall use nontoxic carpet materials and treatments, reasonably nonallergic and free of other recognized health hazards. BLACK VINYL COVE BASE. 4.3 CLEAN UP/DISPOSITION OF REMOVED MATERIAL: The premises shall be kept free from accumulation of waste material, rubbish and debris resulting from the work. All rubbish, tools, debris and surplus material shall be removed daily and the premises left clean to the satisfaction of the Contract Monitor. Remove any stains from the face of the carpet with appropriate spot remover recommended by the manufacturer. Clip any protruding fibers, using sharp scissors. The carpet shall be vacuumed to remove loose particles and yarn. Any waste considered Hazardous Material shall be addressed to Mr. Jim Carroll at (843) 743-7221. All waste material and rubbish resulting from the contract shall be removed from Naval Hospital property to be disposed of in accordance with State and local regulations. Site Visitation- Prior to submitting proposals, prospective bidders must visit the site, inspect existing material and satisfy themselves as to the character and amount of work required. Site visitation may be arranged with the Contracting Officer, Code 017, Naval Hospital Charleston; telephone (843) 743-7270. THE GOVERNMENT CONTEMPLATES MAKING A FIRM FIXED PRICE AWARD.
