- Description
- The Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center, in support of small caliber weapons as used on small surface naval craft, is issuing this Request for Information (RFI)/Sources Sought synopsis as part of a market survey. Sources are sought that are interested in supplying a device capable of visually displaying an image from either an Imaging Intensifier or a Thermal Imager into a head mounted monocular or binocular eye piece. All interested sources are encouraged to submit a preliminary proposal to NAVSURWARCENDIV Crane. The following is a list of salient characteristics that should be met or exceeded: (a) As part of the display system, a means of modifying existing I2 devices to allow for a standard video output should be included. Typical I2 devices can be considered to be helmet mounted like the AN/PVS-21; (b) The display system should allow for two distinct and swi tchable inputs to allow for either the I2 input or the thermal imager input to be displayed. Video connections shall be of a quick disconnect type; (c) The display should be capable of being mounted on existing protective helmets used by weapons operators; (d) The display should not weigh more than 1 pound and be capable of being powered by unregulated craft power or an internal or secondary external battery source; (e) The display should survive operational environmental factors such as temperature extremes, rain, humidity, salt-water splashes, small craft shock and vibration; At the current time, NO FUNDING IS AVAILABLE for contractual efforts. The U.S. Government is in no way liable to pay for or reimburse companies or entities that submit preliminary proposals in response to this announcement. Nothing in this announcement constitutes an obligation on the part of the U.S. Government. The Government is only seeking possible sources for future needs, if they arise. No solicitation document exists at this time. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION OR OTHERWISE PAY FOR THE INFORMATION SOLICITED.
