- Description
- The Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center is issuing this Request for Information (RFI)/Sources Sought synopsis as part of a market survey. Sources are sought that are interested in supplying a 6 degree of freedom (DOF) motion platform for use in simulating, as close as possible, small shipboard motion. It is expected that the platform will be driven by government developed computer simulations for the purposes of testing and training naval weapons operators. All interested sources are encouraged to submit a preliminary proposal to NAVSURDWARCENDIV Crane. The 6 DOF motion platform must meet or exceed the following requirements: (a) PAYLOAD: Up to 5500 lbs; (b) MINIMUM LINEAR DISPLACEMENT; (1) Surge: +/- 12 in; (2) Sway: +/- 13 in; (3) Heave: +/- 9 in; (c) MINIMUM ANGULAR DISPLACEMENT: (1) Roll: +/- 17 degrees; (2) Pitch: +/- 16 degrees; (3) Yaw: +/- 21 degrees; (d) MINIMUM LINEAR VELOCITY: (1) Surge, Sway: +/- 24 in/sec; (2) Heave: +/- 20 in/sec; (e)MINIMUM ANGULAR VELOCITY: (1) Roll, Pitch, Yaw: +/- 30 deg/sec; (f) MINIMUM LINEAR ACCELERATION: (1) Surge, Sway, Heave: +/- 0.6 g; (g) MINIMUM ANGULAR ACCELERATION: (1) Roll, Pitch, Yaw: +/- 200 deg/sec2 ; (h) MAXIMUM FOOTPRINT: 120in by 120in; (I) MAXIMUM SETTLED HEIGHT: 50in; (j) MAXIMUM POWER REQUIREMENT: 480 VAC, 3 Phase, 50 amps; (k) Must provide emulation software or message traffic information drivers; (l) Must provide technical support throughout lifecycle; Firms having equipment meeting the above salient capabilities are invited to submit preliminary proposals, not exceeding three pages of text, that describes the 6 DOF motion platform system, what type of emulation software or message traffic information drivers are included, information about previou sly fielded platforms, and an estimate of overall costs (rough order of magnitude) including shipping, on-site set-up and training. At the current time, NO FUNDING IS AVAILABLE for contractual efforts. The U.S. Government is in no way liable to pay for or reimburse companies or entities that submit preliminary proposals in response to this announcement. Nothing in this announcement constitutes an obligation on the part of the U.S. Government. The Government is only seeking possible sources for future needs, if they arise.
