Description
The Cryptologic Systems Group (CPSG), Electronic Systems Center (ESC), Lackland AFB is requesting information from industry for business approaches to develop and begin market research data to assist in developing CM preliminary acquisition planning. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. It is not a Request For Proposal; a Request for Quotation, an Invitation for Bids, a solicitation, or an indication the US Air Force CPSG will contract for the items contained in the RFI. CPSG will not pay respondents for information provided in response to this RFI. The Cryptographic Modernization (CM) Program Office (PO) is soliciting ideas from industry on alternative approaches to replacing and modernizing the current cryptographic inventory and base which supports security, interoperability, flexibility, programmability and KMI compatibility requirements. For the purpose of this RFI, the draft CM Mission Need Statement and CM Capstone Requirements Document (CRD) are are available by request from CPSG Contracting Office. CPSG requests industry comments / opinions concerning programmable and embeddable, high-grade (Type I) cryptography, both currently available items and those in planning or development. For each programmable and embeddable device provide the following: 1. Identify the proposed purpose of the programmable/ embeddable device. 2. Provide a description of the devices both physically and functionally. 3. Identify if the device replaces a specific item or set of items or does the device provide an entirely new capability. 4. Provide the Specifications of the device, including interface specs. 5. Identify the capabilities the device provides (i.e. lower power, high-speed, self-contained key management controls). 6. Identify the timeline of the device's availability including the devices test plan. 7. Provide the estimated quantities for production of currently available items. 8. Identify the Security classification level capabilities of the devices. 9. Identify the National Security Agency (NSA) certification status. 10. Identify the Algorithm capabilities: multiple vs. single; reprogrammable (and how or where) vs. fixed. 11. Identify key processing capability (i.e. DS-101/102, benign fill / techniques). 12. Identify the estimated cost per unit (based on 2000, 10,000, and 50,000 unit production runs). 13. Identify the backwards interoperability capability of the devices. Please provide a synopsis, no more than 15 pages, that address items 1-13 above. Your response to this RFI is requested NLT 31 Oct 02, 12:00 PM (noon) EDT. Responders should indicate which portions of their response are proprietary or competition sensitive and should mark them accordingly.
