Description

Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to negotiate with McDonnell-Douglas, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Boeing Aircraft Company, PO Box 516, St. Louis, MO 63166-0516 for integration of Mark XIIA Mode 5 transponder capability into the RT-1832 equipped F/A-18C/D aircraft, including qualification and verification testing, modification of flight test aircraft, procurement of engineering development models, and preparation of documentation required to support the Mode 5 configuration in the F/A-18C/D. McDonnell Douglas is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer for the F/A-18C/D. As such, it is the only known source possessing the requisite knowledge and experience required to provide the necessary design to ensure complete integration of the Mode 5 with existing F/A-18 software, electronic systems, and hardware architecture. The period of performance is expected to be from May 2003 through April 2005. The delivery order will be issued under an upcoming BOA. This synopsis is for informational purposes only.
