Description
NASA/LaRC is hereby soliciting information for potential sources for commercially available software tools affecting the verification of avionics software for commercial transport aircraft. The tools will be used in a research study of potential new criteria for tool qualification in compliance with RTCA/DO-178B "Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certifications". The document, RTCA/DO-178B, is a publicly available standard from the RTCA (Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics). Tools for consideration under this study must meet the following criteria: - the tool must be commercially available - the tool must be able to meet the current tool qualification criteria in DO-178B - the tool must have the capability to either (a) evaluate structural coverage, including statement coverage, decision coverage, and modified condition/decision coverage as defined in DO-178B, or (b) apply formal methods in development and verification of software source code in compliance with DO-178B. Structural coverage tools that have been qualified on at least one program developed and approved in compliance with the DO-178B guidelines are of particular interest. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in FedBizOpps and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offerors responsibility to monitor these cites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. Vendors having the capabilities necessary to meet or exceed the stated requirements are invited to submit appropriate documentation, literature, brochures, and references. Technical questions should be directed to: Kelly Hayhurst at (757) 864-6215. Procurement related questions should be directed to: Daniel Burk at (757) 864-9570. Please advise if the requirement is considered to be a commercial or commercial-type product. A commercial item is defined in Internet "Note A". This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. Respondents deemed fully qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation for the requirement. The Government reserves the right to consider a small business or 8(a) set-aside based on responses hereto. All responses shall be submitted to Daniel Burk no later than 10/17/2002.
