Description
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (DMID) supports an extensive portfolio of grant and contract resources to discover, develop and evaluate potential vaccines and therapeutic agents to prevent diseases caused by virtually all infectious agents, including those pathogens associated with emerging diseases and biodefense. DMID's clinical research program is aimed to address programmatic priorities in vaccine and drug development, with a focus on conducting Phase I - IV clinical trials of candidate vaccines and therapeutics in general populations, including infants and children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. DMID has a requirement for a comprehensive clinical research support contract to provide a wide range of clinical trial management services for a variety of clinical research efforts supported by DMID. Specifically, the purpose of this proposed contract is to provide the following services for DMID's clinical research program: clinical site assessment, clinical site preparation and operational assistance, including the establishment of quality control/quality assurance procedures and systems, clinical research training, quality assurance monitoring, pharmacovigilance/safety monitoring, information management along with general administrative and logistical support. The Contractor must provide appropriate and multi-disciplinary staff with relevant experience in a broad array of clinical research management associated with the planning, implementing and conduct of Phase I-IV clinical trials in both domestic and international settings. It is anticipated that one (1) cost reimbursement, completion type contract will be awarded for a period of five (5) years, beginning approximately on August 1, 2003.
