Description
NA SOURCES SOUGHT: The government is seeking qualified sources to design and construct a solution to mitigate fugitive coal dust at the Central Heat and Power Plant (CHPP) on Eielson AFB, Alaska. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract is wit hin the discretion of the Government. Description/Requirements: Eielson AFB is located approximately 20 miles southeast of Fairbanks, Alaska. The CHPP is a coal burning plant with 6 boilers and provides steam heat to the Base. Fugitive dust has been detected at the coal unloading/crusher area, the bunker area, and at the basement conveyor area. In addition, the plant is under negative pressure and is drawing dust from the off-loading area into the rest of the plant. Corrective measures are required for the entire coal handling process within the areas identified and may include sealing off the coal off-loading area, measures to keep coal and coal dust from falling off the side of conveyors, and dust collection at transfer points along the conveyor system. The Government requires a dry-type passive and/or mechanical d esign and will not consider the use of misting or fogging devices. Qualifications: The Government is looking for experience with this type of work to include complete engineering and construction capabilities. Response: All interested parties may submit materials to demonstrate their qualifications. This IS NOT a request for competitive proposals or quotations. The government will consider responses received within 10 days after the date of publication of this synopsis. The contract specialist assigned to this project is Susan Coyner, (907) 753-2838, or email susan.m.coyner@poa02.usace.army.mil.
