Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute on Aging (NIA), intends to negotiate a five-year contract with University of Maryland School of Medicine to provide support for the maintenance of a colony of non-human primates, to continue some characterization of animals during the progression from normal to diabetic state that is necessary for effective husbandry of these special needs animals and to continue to provide access to the monkeys and biospecimens for the many collaborators involved with these animals. Statutory authority: 41 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1. The cited authority is applicable because the Obesity, Diabetes and Aging Non-human Primate Center at University of Maryland manages a unique colony of obese and/or diabetic rhesus monkeys.
