Description

The National Park Service (NPS) will be conducting a discussion regarding guided rafting services on the Alsek River in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve at the American Bald Eagle Center, 2nd Ave. & Haines Hwy in Haines, Alaska for those interested in providing these services. These guided rafting trips typically start in Canada, traveling through British Columbia and the Yukon Territory and end at Dry Bay in the United States. About four days of the trip are in Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. The discussion, on November 6, 2002, will be prior to the release of the business prospectus, scheduled for the winter of 2002-2003. Up to 24 trips will be awarded under this prospectus. An additional 12 trips will be made available by British Columbia via a Request for Proposal process which is planned to happen concurrently with the NPS prospectus. Staff from British Columbia will also outline their Request for Proposal process and timelines at the meeting. Mr. David Nemeth, Concession Specialist at Glacier Bay National Park, will moderate an orientation to the Alsek rafting program and provide details regarding the service.
