- Description
- The Department of Energy intends to issue a sole source contract to RTI, International for "Advanced Sulfur Control Concepts: Single-Step Sulfur Recovery Process (SSRP), which is a follow on to contract number DE-AC21-94MC31258 with the Department of Energy. No solicitation will result from this announcement. This project will optimize reaction conditions and catalysts used in the performance of the Single-Step Sulfur Recovery Process (SSRP) for enhanced sulfur removal and suppress the undesirable formation of COS using a bench-scale reactor and to evaluate its effectiveness in a field test with actual gas from a coal gasifier. In addition, the stability of this process in the presence of trace contaminants in actual coal gas needs to be evaluated. The contract is being issued to RTI, International because they possess the unique and necessary skills, long-term understanding and experience in this process. The personnel at RTI, International have the unique direct experience in the field that governs this process. Having applied for a patent in July, 2002, illustrates their ability to have an immediate impact on the studies. Requests for information should be addressed to Kaye Bloniarz-Cook, MS I07, at the above office address.
