Description

NA The US Army Research Laboratory (ARL), Weapons and Materials Division, intends to award on a sole source basis to the University of Hawaii, Hawaii Institute of Geophysics and Planetology School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology, Honolulu for Servic es to perform the Equation of State and Phase Transition Testing of Boron Carbide under Ultrahigh Pressure using Synchrotron X-Rays. The University of Hawaii which is a Minority Educational Institution is currently under contract with TARDEC to develop a unique test procedure to determine the high pressure properties of ceramics. ARL has a requirement for the high pressure phase transformation data on Boron Carbide Ceramics. The testing will utilize the unique testing procedures developed under the TARDE C contract to maintain consistency of the technical data. ARL has 15 detailed experiments to be performed by the University of Hawaii. A final test report containing the experimental procedures followed, test results, and intrepretation of the data shall be submitted to the ARL within 45 days of the completion of the testing. All responsible HBCU/MI's may submit a proposal which may be considered by the agency. No telephone requests will be honored. See numbered note 22.
