- Description
- The National Marine Fisheries Service, Hollings Marine Laboratory, U. S. Department of Commerce, plans to procure a Multi-sizer 3 Cell/Particle Counter and Size Distribution Analyzer, through Beckman Coulter, Inc., the only known source for providing this system. The Government will accept a similar system with identified products from another vendor, however, the products must be equivalent in form and function. This equipment is needed to create and store Standard Operating Procedures. The data needs to be automatically exported to text files for reading by other applications or mirrored to other networked mapped drives. The results obtained with this system will be highly compatible with data obtained with the Beckman FACSCAN Flow cytomer system. The following items will be procured: One Coulter Multi-sizer 3, size range: .4 - 1200 um; including 100 micron aperture tube, software, accessory kit and 21 CFR 11 compliant; Two Isoton II Diluents; Two Clenz 500 ml; Two Accuvettes, II 200/pk; One Accucomp pentium windows 2000, including keyboard and mouse; One flat screen monitor; One HP Deskjet color printer; Delivery, system integration and orientation; One aperture Tube, 30 micron; One Aperture Tube, 50 micron; and, One Aperture Tube, 70 micron. The minimum requirements of this system are: High resolution particle counting. The system must be able to count very small changes in cell or particle volume. This can be accomplished by increasing the number of channels of resolution per apertures; Must have easy switching of apertures. Algal cells of varying sizes are counted and will constantly need to switch between different apertures. A quick and easy connect system for switching is required; Direct viewing of the aperture opening on the screen is required to quickly check for clogs or debris; Must have the ability to monitor changes in cell or particle size over small time scales; Must have the ability to effectively manipulate the data output. Bundled software is required with the instrument that will allow data to be saved from different formats and allow overlay of multiple runs; Must have the ability to create and store standard operating methods for different cells so that samples can be easily analyzed using the stored operating parameters; Must have non-mercury containing manometers. Because of health hazards in the lab, instruments without mercury are preferred. These items will be acquired through FAR Simplified Acquisitions Regulations under Request for Quotation Number WC1330-03-RQ-0023MLW. NAICS code 421430 applies. All responsible sources may submit information about their capabilities and products to provide this system within fifteen days from the date of this notice. The quote and capabilities statement will be considered by the agency. Firms interested in receiving a copy of the Request for Quotation shall submit a request in writing at the address listed above. Facsimile requests will be accepted at (816) 426-7530.
