- Description
- NASA/KSC plans to issue a Sole Source Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a VE-90 Vacuum System from Thermionics Laboratory, Inc., 999 Beecher Street, San Leandro, CA 94577. Thermionics Laboratory is the only known vendor that can provide a complete vacuum system that can meet the requirements for this product. The complete vacuum system includes a Pyrex bell jar with a metal bar guard, a base plate with an integrated feed through collar with ports, and a bell jar hoist. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms other than the sole source cited have 6 days from the publication of this synopsis/solicitation to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities and quotes, providing a description in sufficient detail to show that the product offered meets the Government's requirement. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit in writing their qualifications that shall be considered by the agency.
