- The Flathead National Forest is advertising a Pre-Solicitation Prospectus for re-establishment of road surfaces for three roads on the Hungry Horse and Swan Lake Ranger Districts, Flathead County, Montana. Road No. 895A is 3.79 miles long, Road No. 5390 is 3.4 miles long, and Road No. 895B is 3.09 miles long. All three roads will have optional methods for road reconditioning. One will be for utilizing mobile rock milling or rock crushing equipment to manufacture cushion material to a specified depth or to recondition to a specified depth by scarifying/ripping and processing or using crushed aggregate (depending on the road). Both methods will include shaping the existing travel way and shoulders, providing cross slope or crown, cleaning existing culverts and ditches, watering, mixing, compacting, grading, and shaping of the manufactured cushion material. Contractor shall furnish and install culverts as well as reconstruct and construct drain dips. Seeding, mulching, and fertilizing shall also be done. The solicitation is not currently available and is scheduled to be issued in late winter or spring of 2003. A Pre-Bid Tour is not scheduled; however, prospective offerors are encouraged to visit the project areas on their own prior to winter conditions. Pre-solicitation Prospectus with additional information pertaining to the individual roads and preliminary Vicinity Maps are available from the Flathead National Forest.
