Description
NA TACOM is issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP), DAAE07-02-R-T001, for a Unit Water Pod System, also known as the ?Camel?. The Camel is planned to be the primary system for receiving, storing, and issuing water within Army units at all echelons throughout t he battlefield. The Camel will hold a minimum of 900 gallons of water, be transportable on systems ranging from ships to C-130 transports, operate in extremes of hot and cold, and will be mounted on an M1095 FMTV trailer. The Camel will provide effective and efficient water distribution support to legacy, interim and objective forces and has been designated as an enhancement system for the Stryker Brigade Combat Team. The performance requirements of the Camel are stated in draft ATPD 2314. TACOM plans to award a single requirements type contract combining System Design and Development (SDD) and follow on Production requirements. SDD is planned to be funded with Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) funds, and production is planned to be funded with Other Procurement Army (OPA) funds. Production funding is expected to cover five fiscal years, for an estimated quanti ty of 1053 each. The SDD effort will be executed under a Cost Plus Fixed Fee order, and production orders will be Firm Fixed Price. The contractor will be required to deliver both hardware and associated supporting services, data and/or software. The Gov ernment will award a contract to the single offeror whose offer represents the best value to the Government. Government conducted testing is required for both SDD and Production, on complete Camel systems. The Contractor shall provide support to the Gove rnment during testing. In addition, there are options included for training classes, product drawings, contractor logistics support, field service representatives, and other requirements. At this time, the RFP is anticipated for release on or about 31 Oc tober, 2002, with closing on or about 2 December 2002. This is a 100% small business set aside.
