Description

The National institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to issue an order on a sole source basis to Jeol USA, Inc., Peabody, MA, using FAR 13.5 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The purpose of this order will be for maintenance of a Jeol Model JEM-3010 Electron Microscope (including an ASID high resolution scanning unit, BEI back scattered unit, FLC free lens control, R174 water chiller, and SEG side entry goniometer), maintenance of a Jeol Model JSM-8401 scanning microscope (including FCS four crystal spectrometer, R050 water chiller, and TN5600 Tracor-Northern automation package), and maintenance of a Jeol Model JSM-6400 scanning microscope (including LBG LB gun and vacuum system and R050 water chiller). Jeol USA, Inc. is the only vendor capable to provide these services as they are the original manufacturer of the equipment and they hold the proprietary software and components necessary for the maintenance. The period of performance will be one (1) base year, beginning January 1, 2003, plus four (4) option years. The anticipated award date of the order is on or about ten (10) days from the date of this notice. Interested persons may identify their intent and capability to respond to the requirements by submitting their capabilities no later than the response date above. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
