- Description
- NAICS Code: 54162 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, via the Simplified Acquisition Procedures of FAR Part 13, intends to award a sole source Purchase Order to the CIIT Centers for Health Research. The CIIT has developed a Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) model and a Clonal Growth Model (CGM) that can be used to estimate the cancer risk of inhaled formaldehyde in adults. Under this Purchase Order the contractor shall: (1) modify the existing CFD model of airflow of upper respiratory tract (URT) and lower respiratory tract (LRT) of an adult human to describe airflow in the respiratory tract of a child at various ages that corresponds to available ventilation data; (2) to modify CGM to account for the cell numbers in the respiratory tract for the same age groups; (3) to exercise these modified models to predict a "lifetime" exposure using ventilation patterns for children and adults; and (4) to simulate risk of "lifetime" exposure using concentration profiles and ventilation patterns developed for specific scenarios. These results will be used augment the Integrated Rick Information (IRIS) file developed to assess the risk of inhaled formaldehyde and inform considerations of susceptible populations such as children. All interested parties may submit a response, which if received within 15 calendar days of the date of this announcement, will be considered. Interested vendors shall provide detailed information outlining their capabilities which clearly meets the requirements stated above. Any response(s) failing to provide the aforementioned data but instead choosing to submit a routine letter requesting a copy of the RFQ will be disregarded. Responses to this posting must be in writing. The email address for the Point of Contact for this announcement is lutz.sherry@epa.gov.
