Description
The Library of Congress, National Library Services for the Blind and Physically Handicapped requires disposal of government surplus, obsolete, and damaged record and cassette players (CT-1, A-1, A-80, C-1, C-80, C-79, and older models). These types of playback equipment were used by blind and physically handicapped patrons to listen to recorded books on both flexible and rigid records cassette tapes. An estimated 175-200 tons (25,000 playback equipment and packaging material) shall require disposal under this service contract. In addition, the contractor shall be required to remove and properly dispose of any hazardous lead material as governed under the federal EPA regulations. The contractor shall also be required to remove, package, and ship amp boards only from model C-1 playback equipment. An Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certified commercial contractor is NOT required. Response Date is changed to December 11, 2002, 2:00 PM EST.
