Description
The government is issuing this Request For Information (RFI) as part of a market survey for a Semi-Rigid Ammunition Box for 7.62mm X 51mm NATO belted ammunition. The following are critical requirements of the system, the pertinent ammunition is 7.62mmX51mm NATO Cartridge (A131); the holding capacity is 100 rounds (linked); the box shall interface with MK48 MOD0 machine gun via the receiver. Interoperability with MK 48 MOD0 7.62mm Machine Gun manufactured by FN Manufacturing Inc., is defined as the ability of the semi-rigid box to securely mount and lock to the lower ammunition-mounting device on the receiver. The ammunition box shall be corrosion resistant. The ammunition box shall be supplied with a starter device that attaches to the belted ammunition making it simple for the operator to pull the ammunition from the box and shall not hinder loading the ammunition into the w eapon. The box shall have the capability to drain. In response to this sources sought announcement, the government requires interested vendors provide information regarding the following: product literature with photographs; specific production status of a 7.62mm Semi-Rigid ammunition box meeting the above requirements; specific availability date of twenty-five each ?product samples? 7.62mm Semi-Rigid ammunition box that could be tested by the government to above requirements; and projected production cost of approximately 500 boxes.
