- Description
- THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM), Program Management Expeditionary Power Systems-153, Alternative Power Sources for Communication Equipment (APSCE), Quantico is seeking information from sources capable of providing solar technology to energize communication equipment, computers, and other electronic peripheral equipment, and recharge batteries. This is to be accomplished in mobile, tactical, and remote environments. The solar/photovoltaic energy source should provide the required power to energize communication equipment, laptop computers, and other electronic peripheral equipment to fully operate as intended. The solar/photovoltaic energy source should be able to interface with and energize communication equipment, laptop computers, and other electronic peripheral equipment without the equipment being energized requiring modification. The solar source shall perform the same electronic function as if a battery were installed. The communication equipment is the Single Channel Ground Air Radio Systems (SINCGARS) AN PRC/119. The requirement for this radio is 12.5 VDC at 2.0 amps in transmit mode and 12.5 VDC at 0.2 amps in receive mode. The batteries to be recharged are specifically the military issue BB-390B/U. Firms able to meet this requirement are invited to submit White Papers describing their concepts and technologies. White Papers in Microsoft Word for Office 2000 compatible format are due no later than December 2, 2002. Responses shall be submitted via e-mail to: allensb@mcsc.usmc.mil. Interested parties must limit their electronic response to no more than thirty (30) pages or a maximum file size of 1.9 meg if e-mailed. Please include the name, phone number, fax number and e-mail address of your company's designated point-of-contact. Proprietary information, if any, should be minimized and clearly marked. To aid planners, please present such restricted or proprietary data as an addendum to the non-restricted/non-proprietary information. Submissions are for market research and all material will be retained in confidence. The information provided in the RFI is subject to change and is not binding on the Government. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT EXISTS AT THIS TIME. This Sources Sought/RFI is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire follow-on acquisition. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this RFI and Government use of such information. Product information or questions may be submitted via mail to MARCORSYSCOM, Attn: MGySgt Scott B. Allen, Project Officer, GTES, 2033 Barnett Ave., Suite 315, Quantico, VA 22134-5010.
