Description

The Contractor shall furnish and install new LP gas fired heating systems for three park residences located at Point Reyes National Seashore in Marin County, CA. There will be a total of four heating units installed at three separate locations within the park. There are no existing central heating systems in any of the units. The Contractor will be required to (among other things): install 90 percent efficient heating units and properly sized BTU heating systems for the residences (each unit shall be equipped with a return air duct with integral filter and a programmable thermostat); install two new 250 gallon LPG tanks; perform all trenching and installation of new piping; install electrical service and dedicated supply from existing service panels or a new subpanel; perform selective demolition (removal of abandoned utilities); and install all ductwork, controls and instrumentation. Floor plans will be provided. The Contractor is encouraged to be creative in their design utilizing interior spaces to conceal as much of the heating system as possible. Exposed construction features in historic structures may be limited. Two residences are historic structures. Two residences will be occupied during installation. One residence has a brick foundation that will require core drilling and structural support. The Contractor shall submit a workplan/design for approval prior to start of construction. Upon completion of the project the Contractor shall provide as-built drawings that include location and type of furnace installed, pipe routes, register and cold-air locations, exhaust and drip lines, and materials used. Work shall begin within ten days after notice of an award and be completed within 45 days thereafter. The project is estimated between $25,000 and $100,000. The Request for Quotations will be available for download on or about November 16, 2002 through a link at http://www.fedbizopps.gov or directly through the DOI National Business Center website located at http://ideasec.nbc.gov. No hard copy RFQ's will be issued. A site visit will be conducted on November 26, 2002. Interested parties should meet with the Project Manager in the Headquarters Building parking lot off Bear Valley Road at 10:00 a.m. Quotations in response to this project will be due on December 10, 2002. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which, if timely received, will be considered.
