Description
The University of California, which operates the Los Alamos National Laboratory under contract to the Department of Energy, solicits companies interested in collaborating with Los Alamos National Laboratory in a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA), sponsored research arrangement and/or to obtain exclusive or nonexclusive license rights to commercialize, manufacture and market a new Mechanical Gravity Braking Device, hereinafter referred to as the Technology. The Technology is the subject of U.S. Patent 6,325,184, which is a device that provides for the placement of a payload or platform within a shaft, as well as prevents the free fall of hoisted loads within shafts. The device can be configured to different sized shafts and is recoverable, as the application requires. The patent may be viewed on-line via the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office?s web-site at http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?patentnumber=6325184 * Note: This is not a procurement or grant opportunity. Any organization interested in licensing the Technology or in partnering with Los Alamos National Laboratory to develop the Technology for their specific application(s) must respond with a Letter of Interest. The Letter of Interest shall include a description of the company?s (1) business / business goals, (2) motivation for pursuing this opportunity and (3) specific field of use or application for the device. Failure to provide this information may be grounds to consider your Letter of Interest as not being a qualified or acceptable response to this request. The Laboratory may exclude your company from negotiations under this condition. The Letter of Interest must provide the information requested above in order for the respondent to be considered a qualified respondent. The Letter of Interest is requested by Close of Business, December 16, 2002.
