Description

The Department of the Interior is interested in obtaining qualification statements from contractors who can provide Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) support services. Interested sources should have the demonstrated experience in the following areas: 1. In-depth knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and its associated legal requirements. 2. Knowledge of FOIA exemptions, both standard (e.g., exception 6 home addresses and phone numbers, etc), and case-by-case (e.g., exemption 5 pre-decisional recommendations, ect.). 3. Ability to review records requested for public release, determine and electronically redact data that should be withheld from release. 4. Ability to prepare final FOIA correspondence, including acknowledgment letters, time extension letters, requests for clarification and fee assurance, and interim and final response letters, adapting standard language to fit specific cases. 5. Ability to coordinate FOIA requests with responding offices. 6. Ability to use automated systems for tracking and researching FOIA requests. Qualification Statements should be submitted via email to Crystal_G_Bivens@doi.gov. All submissions shall be received by close of business on December 9, 2002. Any future procurements resulting from this query will be advertised separately.
