Note: This is a correction to a notice posted 21 November 2002. Subject conference will take place on Tuesday, December 3rd (0900-1700). The reference number for this announcement is 03-G803. The Fleet Industrial Supply Center (FISC) DET Philadelphia along with the Naval Personnel Development Command (NPDC) is hosting an Academic Forum to obtain input from Industry and Educational Institutions concerning best practices and innovations in developing and delivering training, education, and professional development services on Tuesday, December 3rd (0900-1700). The objective of the forum is to establish a dialog with Industry, Colleges and Universities in an effort to best articulate the Navy?s future training and educational requirements and improve the Navy?s approach to acquiring training and education services and products. FORUM OBJECTIVES Identify approaches to contractually meet the following objectives: - Methods for contracting for instruction where commonality exists between Navy and private sector. - Identify ways for sailors to receive credit for completion of courses that can lead to a degree or professional certification. - Identify ways to ensure credit transferability. - Obtain recommendations for blended solutions in course delivery consisting of E-learning and classroom. - Delivering a course of instruction (same curriculum) to more then one location. - Recommendations for incorporating the Science of Learning principals to the new technical training environment. - Recommendations to handle a mix of Academia and military instruction, providing the best of both worlds to the podium. - Identify laws, regulations or operational constraints that reduce the effectiveness, quality, and cost of training. ALL Attendees will need to show a PICTURE ID at the gate to proceed. Attendees not providing advance information will need to obtain a vehicle pass to drive on base form the pass and ID office located outside the main gate and will need to show the rental agreement (If applicable), valid drivers license, car registration and proof of Insurance. Hours of operation are 05:30 to 15:30. Attendees are encouraged to obtain vehicle passes early due to the potential of long lines at military installations PASS and ID offices.
