Description
This sources sought announcement is issued for the purpose of identifying sources who can provide expertise in the area of small meteorological data collecting systems that measure various weather parameters (wind speed/direction, temperature, dew point/humidity, barometric pressure and other parameters) yet are self contained and portable. These "kits" would be deployed into the extreme environment, down to temperatures of -50 degrees C, of the Polar regions and will support scientific and aviation meteorological measurements. Items of interest will include the kit's size, weight, level-of-effort for assembly/disassembly at remote locations by a single person, power consumption and logistical supportability. Further interests may include self sustaining power as well as self-contained communications options such as RF transmission, low-speed telephony modems, direct serial, USB connections, or IR data transfer. Experience in extreme cold climates is highly desired. Interested parties should provide complete specifications and detailed brochures or other correspondence for proposed kits. This announcement is only an expression of interest. Future requirements and procurements are uncertain. The government does not presently have a requirement and it does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this announcement. For further information contact Matt Rushing, Code 362MR, at (843) 218-5225. All information supplied should be mailed to dennis.walp@navy.mil or SPAWAR Systems Center Charleston P.O. Box 190022 North Charleston, S.C. 29419-9022, Attn Code 0213DW to arrive no later than 6 December 2002.
