Description

The US Department of Justice (DoJ) Justice Management Division Management Planning Staff (MPS) is seeking information on potential sources of forensic quality fingerprint livescan technology that permits capture of ten-prints significantly faster than methods currently used in law enforcement. It must capture images similar to and compatible with rolled fingerprints, with ridge detail over a sufficient area to ensure that all deltas are included. This Request For Information (RFI) describes the need for such a fast-roll-equivalent technology, and requests the status of developments that could someday meet it. Firms with knowledge and expertise in forensic quality fingerprint livescan technology are directed to go to the General Services Administration's (GSA), Federal Business Opportunity web site, http://www.Fedbizopps.gov for more detailed information regarding On Fast-Roll-Equivalent Fingerprint Capture Technology RFI. This information will be solely distributed through the GSA website. Hard copies of the request for information will not be available. The Fedbizopps.gov site provides downloading instructions. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP). The Department of Justice is not under any obligation to take any further steps beyond this request. All responses shall be submitted no later than January 22, 2003, at 4:00 p.m., local time, to the address specified in this announcement.
