Question 1: The specification refers to 2 Mev energy and at the end mentions that the Navy has a 3 Mev machine. The following questions refer to the 3 Mev machine: a. Who is the manufacture of the machine? Answer 1a: Varian; b. What is the model number of the machine? Answer 1b: L200; c. Does the machine run at 2 Mev? Answer 1c: No; d. Is the machine mounted in the shielded enclosure that will be used to house the system? If so, what is the size of the enclosure? Answer 1d: Facility Size (test bay) 25 ft x 27 ft; e. Is the machine mounted on a motion system of some kind? If so, what are the limits and directions of motion? Answer 1e: Up and Down motions; Question 2: Will the system be developed and delivered to the Navy? If so: a. Who is responsible for installation? Answer 2a: Contractor that builds the system; b. Where will the unit be installed? Answer 2b: In current facility; c. What electrical and other utilities such as water and air are available? Answer 2c: Current power supports the L200 as well as processor and betatron (23 MeV) x-ray machine; Question 3: Is Phase I a demonstration of the computer hardware and the software reconstruction of data from raw image data provided, or a demonstration of a system with image panel and manipulator(s) as described? Answer: It is a demonstration of a system with image panel and manipulator(s) as described; Question 4: What is the facility interface to this system? Answer: The system will eventually replace the betatron system currently located in the test bay. A facility-based control console provides x-ray operational control; Question 5: Is the floor made of concrete? Is it flat? Answer: Yes; Question 6: Does radiation shielding need to be provided? Answer: For the equipment, yes. The facility has the requisite 4 ft thick wall; Question 7: What form of electric power is available and how far away from the system is it? Answer: AC power at 60 hz. The electrical room is ~22 ft away; Question 8: Does the facility have a crane? If so, what is the hook height? What is the ceiling height? Answer: Yes, it has two cranes. One outside 15 ? 20 ft on the loading area and one, 2-ton rated, ~ 10 ft within the bay. Hook height - 10 ft above floor level. Ceiling height - approximately 16 ft; Question 9: How fare away is the operator area from the load area? Answer: An 8 ft thick wall separates the x-ray bay from the control room area; Question 10: What is the allowable data acquisition time? (Not the reconstruction time, which is stated in the RFP?) Answer: 12 minutes max; Question 11: Do we need to entirely responsive to the entire RFP? IE: will a partially responsive proposal be rejected out-of-hand? Answer: Yes.
