- Description
- The Navy Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV) Program Office (PMA263) of the Program Executive Office for Strike Weapons and Unmanned Aviation (PEO (W) is hosting an Industry Day on TUESDAY, 17 DECEMBER 2002, 0900-1630, at the MITRE Corporation facility, MITRE 1 Building, located at 7515 Colshire Drive, McLean, VA 22102 . The purpose of Industry Day is to provide industry the Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) UAV program vision, its acquisition strategy development status, and to obtain industry feedback related to programmatic issues, risks, and schedule. The Program Office will present various briefings addressing the BAMS UAV Program plan and concepts, its desired warfighting capabilities, and any related program support activities. The BAMS UAV will provide persistent unmanned, long dwell Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) capability to the warfighter. Examples of BAMS UAV missions include: ISR queuing, strike support, SIGINT, and communications relay. It will act as an information collection hub and operate independently or in direct collaboration with other manned, unmanned, and space-based platforms. Notionally, the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance (MPR) Force Community will support the BAMS UAV, however BAMS UAV will additionally provide ISR capabilities to the intelligence, surface warfare, amphibious and carrier strike communities. Additional information related to the BAMS UAV Program, including the proposed industry day agenda and map, can be found at the PMA 263 web site http://uav.navair.navy.mil. Due to space limitations, attendance to Industry Day is restricted to 2 representatives per company. Private, one-on-one sessions for mutual exchange of information will be conducted with all interested parties. Companies requesting private discussions will be limited to one hour per company. We plan to hold these meetings between 13 - 24 January 2003. The Navy encourages innovative acquisition strategy approaches to include spiral development, evolutionary acquisition, combined testing, and teaming or partnering with industry or Government. To register for the Industry Day open session, as well as to request a private, one-on-one session, companies must submit attendee name, company name, address, telephone number, and email address, as well as security clearances, to include attendee?s title, corporate affiliation, date and place of birth, current clearance, and citizenship for each attendee to Mr. Steve Adrian at telephone (301) 866-1860, ext. 203, fax (301) 866-1862 or email sadrian@dp-assoc.com no later than 10 December 2002. THIS SYNOPSIS IS FOR INFORMATION AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN INVITATION FOR BID OR REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL, NOR DOES ITS ISSUANCE RESTRICT THE GOVERNMENT AS TO THE ULTIMATE ACQUISITION APPROACH. A CONTRACT WILL NOT BE AWARDED AS A RESULT OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. FURTHER, THE NAVY WILL NOT PAY FOR TRAVEL COSTS INCURRED. Technical questions can be directed to Mr. Keith Carter at (301) 757-5869, and programmatic issues to Mr. Rich Klesser at (301) 757-5879 or LCDR Mike Schachterle at (301) 757-5855.
