- Description
- Provide Architect/Engineer design services at the North Chicago VA Medical Center, North Chicago, Illinois, for the following three projects (provide three separate stand-alone packages, and their construction period services): A. Repair the expansion joint between Section D2 and the rest of Building 133D (133CA). Investigate the existing problem and design a weatherproof solution. B. Renovate and extend the Building 134 dock. C. Remodel a communications equipment room inside BB-101, Building 133, to accommodate a new telephone switch. The new PBX will require a raised floor room with all the environmental, security, fire protection, emergency power, etc. features of a computer facility. Architect/Engineer services under this contract include (for each project above), but are not limited to: A. Design development plans, three copies for review due in 60 calendar days after receiving the Notice to Proceed. B. Three copies for review of the 90% drawings, and one copy of the specifications and preliminary cost estimate, due in 60 calendar days after approval of the design development plans. C. Working drawings and specifications due in 15 calendar days after approval of the 90% submittal. Drawings to be AutoCAD Release 14 (no later than 14) files on CD-ROM disc and the specification sections in Microsoft Word 97 (not later than SR-1) on CD-ROM disc. Also, provide a reproducible set of drawings on 5-mil polyester film. D. A cost estimate, three copies due with the working drawings and specifications. E. Review and approve all submittals.=20 Provide design support for all change orders (not including a change of construction contract scope). F. Provide for four post bid meetings or job inspections (other than the final inspection) as requested by the Contracting Officer=92s Technical Representative. G. Conduct a final inspection and deliver a report within ten days. H. Incorporate installed variations and contract changes into the working drawings, and provide =93as-built=94 AutoCAD files. Estimated construction cost is between $250,000 and $500,000. Areas of consideration is Emerging Small Business and restricted to a 60 mile driving radius of the North Chicago VA Medical Center. Submit two (2) copies of SF 254 and SF 255 with appropriate documentation by close of business January 6, 2003.=20 Mail information to: Great Lakes Acquisition Center, Attn: Eural Bennett, 5000 West National Avenue, Building 5, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53295-0005. Selection criteria will be based on: (1) Past performance on similar projects, (2) Maintaining project schedules and project budgets; (3) Overall engineering design experience and capability with architectural, mechanical, and electrical renovation projects; (4) Qualifications of staff to be assigned, with special emphasis on field personnel to be utilized; 5) Knowledge in design and construction requirements; and (6) Cost control effectiveness. No bid packages are available. This is not a Request For Proposal (RFP). NAIC #541330 applies. Award is subject to the availability of funds.
