Description

The National Park Service will issue a prospectus on Wednesday, December 11, 2002, for a 90-day response period to solicit proposals for providing interpretive backcountry vehicle tours in Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. Proposals are due in the Business Resources Division, National Park Service, Intermountain Region, P.O. Box 25287, Denver, CO 80225-0287 (express delivery address: 12795 West Alameda Parkway, Lakewood, CO 80228), telephone (303) 969-2661 no later than 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2003. Services will require the provision of one-day or multiple-day guided interpretive backcountry vehicle tours in Canyonlands National Park and one-day guided interpretive backcountry vehicle tours in Arches National Park, and authorize the provision of backcountry cargo hauling in Canyonlands National Park. These businesses are seasonal in nature with most tours occurring from March 1 through October 31. No government-owned facilities are assigned in the parks for concessioners' use. Concessioners will locate their facilities outside boundaries of the parks. The annual gross receipts over the past 3 years averaged between $23,430 and $161,780 for the three concessioners. The current concession permits expire December 31, 2003. The National Park Service may increase the number of concession contracts available from the current three concession permits to four concession contracts. The contract term for the new contracts will be (10) years, beginning January 1, 2004. The three current concessioners have a right of preference in renewal. There will be a printing cost recovery charge of $35 per copy to be delivered via Federal Express (please provide a Federal Express address not a post office box number) or $30 per copy to be picked up in person. Checks or money orders must be payable to the National Park Service. Cash cannot be accepted.
