Description

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has a requirement for a contractor to build a new 26,000 square-foot annex addition to the existing laboratory located at the Andrew W. Breidenbach Environmental Research Center, 26 W. Martin Luther King Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio. The annex will consist of three floors with an atrium and a partial basement for mechanical equipment. The foundation of the building will be reinforced poured concrete with an exterior butyl water proofing. The main structure of the building will be a steel movement frame with steel columns and bar joist. The floor structure will consist of metal decking and poured concrete slabs. The building exterior will mostly consist of a glass curtain wall. The main entrance will be flanked by two forms that will be covered in metal panel. The roof of the building will be an adhered polyolefin reinforced membrane over polyiscocyanurate insulation. The building will be served by a new variable air volume air handling unit system, and there will be a wet pipe automatic fire protection system. A firm-fixed price contract is contemplated. The anticipated contract performance period is eighteen months after receipt of the notice to proceed. The estimated price of the base bid item is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The solicitation will be released through the internet on EPA's home page at www.epa.gov/oam/cinn_cmd/. Prospective offerors can download the Invitation for Bids and related documents from this website on or about January 15, 2003. This is an unrestricted acquisition. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the Agency.
