- Description
- The Government is seeking professional design services from a architect-engineering firm for a design to renovate consolidated sleep labs and cardiology improvements at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, University Drive Division. The maximum area is 7,500 square feet in the north west wing, 7,500 square feet in the north east wing and 5,500 square feet in the building core. Work required by the architect-engineer includes architectural, electrical, mechanical including replacement HVAC and controls, asbestos abatement, monitoring, and site modifications. The A/E is required to have a full time Certified Industrial Hygeniest (CIH) on his staff for the complete duration of this project. The CIH shall be able to perform asbestos survey investigations, bulk samplings, development of specifications and drawings and construction period services. All designs shall be accomplished in accordance with VA guidelines and specifications, which are available on the Internet at http://www.va.gov/facmgt/standard. A/E shall pay particular attention to USAF, NFPA, BOCA, VA Handbook 7610 space criteria and VA program guide PG-18-14 "Room Finishes, Door & Hardware schedule". The architect-engineer will make site visits as necessary to survey existing conditions as required to determine existing as-built conditions affecting this project. A/E shall field verify every aspect that relates to the project, coordinate visits with the Project Manager. The project involves primarily minor improvement and nonrecurring category maintenance such as removal and replacement of asbestos containing materials including floor tile, replacement HVAC, air handling, new controls and distribution systems, replace and install ceiling systems, lighting and upgrading of finishes and other interior design elements. A/E firm must be proficient in the use of AutoCad 2000 and have access to Microsoft Word 5.0 or higher. Estimated cost of construction is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. Area of consideration is restricted to within 60 miles of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, University Drive Division, Pittsburgh, PA. 15240. Those interested firms within the area of consideration shall submit three (3) current copies of SF-254 and SF-255 to the attention of J. E. Regan, Contracting Officer, VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, 7180 Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, PA. 15206. The current NAICS code is 54131. Small business size standard is 4.0 million. This is small business set-aside requirement. This acquisition is subject to the availability of funds for Fiscal Year 2003. Due date for SF-254 and SF-255 is close of business (COB) 1/3/03. This is not a request for proposal.
